Georgia Republicans distance themselves from national politics before Election Day
Original: Some Georgia Republicans try to distance themselves from national politics as Election Day nears
Some Republican candidates and officeholders in Georgia are working to separate their campaigns from national politics as Election Day approaches. Local outlets including WABE and the Georgia Recorder report that these Republicans are emphasizing state and local issues, avoiding association with the national party and its divisive figures in an effort to appeal to swing and independent voters.
Why now: Election Day is near, and battleground-state candidates are recalibrating their messaging to win over voters wary of national polarization.
