UN rights chief urges better civilian protection amid global youth protests
Original: UN human rights chief urges better protection of civilians in conflicts Youth-led protests against corruption and inequa
UN human rights chief Volker Türk called for stronger protection of civilians in conflicts, arguing that youth-led protests against corruption and inequality in Serbia, Bangladesh, Nepal and Madagascar show a growing worldwide demand for human rights. The remarks tie conflict-zone protections to the wave of young people challenging governments over governance and fairness.
Why now: The UN's framing connects ongoing youth protest movements across several countries with international human rights debates.
