Viewers are praising Wildwood, an animated film, for trusting children with a story more complex than typical North American family animation. One reviewer wrote that the film felt like it respected kids' ability to handle material bigger than they might expect, arguing that this approach matters more than people realize. The film is drawing attention for its willingness not to simplify its themes for younger viewers.

Why now: The film is newly drawing attention for breaking the usual convention of oversimplifying animated stories for children.
