The Trump administration is moving to close East Potomac Park in Washington, DC, to begin work on a golf project. The plan, reported by major outlets including the New York Times, would shut the public park, home to a popular public golf course, for redevelopment. Critics are likely to object to the loss of public recreational space, while supporters back upgrading the golf facilities.

Why now: The closure of a well-used public park in the nation's capital for a golf development is drawing attention and debate.
