Meta has suspended the Instagram account of Angie Nixon, a Florida progressive Democratic Senate candidate, according to reports dated October 28. Critics are framing the move as part of a pattern of political interference, pointing to Meta's recent troubles in Brazil over allegations it assisted Jair Bolsonaro. The suspension has drawn attention ahead of the US elections, with concerns raised about platform decisions affecting Democratic candidates.
Why now: The suspension of a progressive candidate's account weeks before US elections, amid Meta's wider political controversies, is fueling accusations of platform bias.
