Original: Voyager 1 is 25.85 billion km/16.06 billion miles away from Earth and will reach 1 light-day from Earth in 20 days, 6 ho
NASA's Voyager 1 probe, humanity's farthest spacecraft, is now about 25.85 billion km (16.06 billion miles) from Earth and is set to cross the one-light-day distance mark in roughly 20 days. Its twin, Voyager 2, trails behind at about 21.65 billion km (13.45 billion miles). Space watchers are marking the milestone, noting that a signal from Voyager 1 will soon take a full day to reach us.
Why now: Voyager 1 is about to reach the symbolic milestone of being one full light-day from Earth.
