Chandra and Webb combine for new Pillars of Creation view
Original: The Pillars of Creation, captured in a stunning composite from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and the James Webb Space
A stunning new composite image of the Pillars of Creation has been released, combining X-ray data from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory with infrared observations from the James Webb Space Telescope. The towering columns of gas and dust in the Eagle Nebula, about 6,500 light-years away, are stellar nurseries where new stars are actively forming, and the image highlights both the columns and young stars embedded within them.
Why now: The striking combined view from two of NASA's premier observatories is being widely shared and admired online.
