The Semantic MediaWiki project has released versions 7.3.0 and 7.3.1, both containing security improvements. Version 7.3.1 is the recommended upgrade, adding stricter permission checks, stronger output escaping and protection against resource exhaustion. The maintainers warn that nearly all of the fixed issues also affect older versions, so installations on earlier releases should update promptly.
Why now: Users running older versions are being urged to upgrade because the vulnerabilities affect prior releases too.
