Report Examines Immigration's Fiscal Toll on Texas Public Systems
Original: Governing Blind: The Fiscal and Operational Impact of Immigration on Texas Public Systems
The Texas Public Policy Foundation has released a report titled 'Governing Blind: The Fiscal and Operational Impact of Immigration on Texas Public Systems', arguing that immigration places significant fiscal and operational strain on the state's schools, healthcare and other public services, and that policymakers lack adequate data to manage it. The findings feed into the broader debate over immigration costs and state responsibility along the US southern border.
Why now: Immigration remains a contested policy issue in Texas, and new cost-focused research gives ammunition to both sides of that debate.
