Original: # DOJ Fishing Expedition Targets # California Election Officials In # Criminal Probe Names of politicians and # election

A criminal investigation by the Department of Justice is reportedly targeting California election officials, with names of politicians said to be involved. Commenters suggest current California Secretary of State Shirley Weber may be among those targeted, though it remains unclear what criminal charges federal prosecutors intend to pursue. The story is circulating as part of ongoing debate over federal scrutiny of election administration.

Why now: Federal scrutiny of election officials is a politically charged topic, and the possible involvement of a high-profile state official is drawing attention.
