Hyrox champion Joanna Wietrzyk returns after mid-race incident

Original: joanna wietrzyk

Hyrox world champion Joanna Wietrzyk has announced she is returning to competition after taking time away following her World Championships race in Chicago, where she suffered a bout of diarrhea mid-course and continued competing. Her apology drew criticism from some who felt it deflected responsibility, while fellow athletes have largely defended her. Wietrzyk says the uproar has been a hard situation to deal with.

Why now: The unusual nature of the incident and the debate over her apology have kept the story in international headlines.
