Column traces Glee's rivalries back to Shakespeare
Original: Is Glee’s unholy trinity Shakespeare’s fault?
A University of Connecticut student newspaper column asks whether the "unholy trinity" of antagonists on the TV show Glee owes its origins to William Shakespeare. The piece explores the literary lineage of the show's mean-girl trio, connecting the show's character dynamics to archetypes found in Shakespeare's plays rather than purely modern teen-drama writing.
Why now: A student column revisiting Glee's characters has prompted renewed discussion of the show's Shakespearean roots.
