The painting 'Pinturas romanas. Pompeya' (1929) by Spanish artist Gregorio Prieto (1897-1992) is being highlighted as the picture of the day, connected to the Gregorio Prieto Museum in Valdepeñas. Prieto, a Manchego painter close to the Generation of '27, developed a homoerotic iconography after travelling through Italy and Greece, with classical Antiquity shaping his themes and landscapes.
Why now: The museum and art followers share his work daily, and classical-influenced Spanish painting draws ongoing interest.
