US Report Says Russia Building Space-Based Nuclear Satellite
Original: U.S. Report: Russia Developing Satellite to Carry Nuclear Weapon Into Space
A United States intelligence report claims Russia is developing a satellite designed to carry a nuclear weapon into space. If confirmed, the system would mark a serious escalation, as placing nuclear weapons in orbit would violate long-standing international norms, including the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which both Washington and Moscow signed.
Why now: Reports of nuclear weapons in space would signal a major escalation in US-Russia tensions and a potential breach of arms control norms
