Generations of fishermen have travelled to Montauk, New York, to fish for striped bass, but the fish are now in the midst of a decline. The drop is raising concerns among anglers and the local fishing economy, which has long depended on the species, and is drawing attention to environmental pressures on the population.
Why now: Reports of the striped bass decline are drawing attention because the species underpins Montauk's fishing culture and local economy.
