Most Italian teens want schools to teach sex education
Original: Il 71% dei ragazzi intervistati vuole che sia la scuola a occuparsi di educazione sessuale e affettiva e il 56% la vorre
An Ipsos survey in Italy finds 71% of young people surveyed want schools to handle sexual and emotional education, and 56% would like it to be compulsory. The survey also shows teens rely mainly on the internet, social media and artificial intelligence for information about sex, while 31% turn to pornography. The findings are drawing attention to a gap between what young people want and what schools currently provide.
Why now: The new Ipsos survey results highlight strong demand for compulsory sex education in Italian schools, a recurring political debate.
