Swimmers push for British Sign Language at gym pools

Original: Me @ every gym with a swimming pool ever: 1. https:// instituteofswimming.org/course /12084 2. https:// ukdeafsport.org.

Deaf and hearing swimmers are sharing resources for bringing British Sign Language into swimming pools, circulating links to Swimming Teacher Institute courses, Deaf Sport UK materials, and BSL dictionaries for swimming vocabulary. The conversation highlights how rarely pool staff and swim classes accommodate Deaf swimmers, with people joking about wanting BSL support at every gym with a pool.

Why now: Growing attention on accessibility for Deaf swimmers in gyms and swim programmes in the UK
