Longtime Oregon drug treatment center for mothers closes
Original: A longtime Oregon drug treatment center is shuttering as similar programs for moms face trouble
A long-established Oregon drug treatment center is shutting its doors, and the closure comes as similar residential treatment programs for mothers dealing with addiction across the state face mounting difficulties. The shutdown reduces an already limited option for pregnant women and mothers seeking recovery care while keeping their children, a service area advocates say is critically underserved.
Why now: The closure of a rare treatment program for mothers highlights growing strains on addiction care for families in Oregon.
