Debate over primary sources versus independent verification
Original: “That is an identifiable primary source, but not an independent verification.” # News # TerminalTribune https:// news.te
A news commentary from TerminalTribune argues that an identifiable primary source, on its own, does not amount to independent verification of a claim. The remark has struck a chord with journalists and readers weighing how much weight to give firsthand accounts in reporting. The discussion touches on wider concerns about sourcing standards and press accuracy at a time when unverified claims spread quickly online.
Why now: Ongoing public debate about journalism standards and how claims should be verified before publication.
