US cancels G20 group photo over Lavrov objections

Original: US scraps G20 photo after European diplomats object to being pictured with Russia's Lavrov

United States officials dropped a planned G20 group photograph after European diplomats refused to appear alongside Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, underlining continued Western resistance to normalising contact with Moscow. The cancellation highlights how the war in Ukraine continues to fracture diplomatic ritual even at forums designed to bring rival powers together.

Why now: The incident vividly illustrates ongoing Western-Russian tensions over the Ukraine war at a major international summit.
