Tehran Friday Prayer Leader Urges Shift in Nuclear Doctrine
Original: Tehran’s Interim Friday Prayer Leader Calls for Change in Iran’s Nuclear Doctrine
Tehran's interim Friday prayer leader has publicly called for a change in Iran's nuclear doctrine, according to IranWire. The appeal from a senior clerical voice tied to the state suggests growing internal pressure to reconsider the country's nuclear policy, a sensitive issue given stalled talks with world powers and regional tensions. Calls from religious figures for doctrinal shifts are rare and often signal debate within Iran's leadership.
Why now: Iran's nuclear policy is under intense scrutiny amid regional tensions and stalled diplomatic efforts.
