Behringer Rumored to Have Cloned the Classic E-Mu SP-1200
Original: This is Wild... Behringer Cloned the SP1200! Rumored to Be $200 & Open Source!?
Behringer is rumored to have created a clone of the E-Mu SP-1200, the legendary drum machine and sampler beloved in hip-hop production. According to circulating claims, the clone could cost around $200 and be open source, a fraction of what original SP-1200 units fetch on the secondhand market. Producers are reacting with excitement and skepticism, debating whether Behringer can capture the SP-1200's iconic 12-bit sound and character at such a low price point.
Why now: Behringer's affordable clone of a sought-after, expensive vintage sampler is big news for producers, and the low rumored price and open-source angle are fueling debate.
