Morton Arboretum studies climate change effect on fall foliage
Original: Morton Arboretum tracks the impact climate change is having on fall leaves changing color
The Morton Arboretum, a tree research center outside Chicago, is monitoring how climate change is altering the timing and vibrancy of fall leaf color changes. Researchers track how warmer temperatures and shifting weather patterns affect when leaves turn and drop each autumn, offering a visible, local signal of climate change in the Midwest.
Why now: Warmer autumns are delaying and dulling fall foliage, making the seasonal change a tangible marker of climate change
