Ukrainian arms maker Fire Point says systems work without Starlink
Original: Ukrainian arms manufacturer Fire Point has overcome Starlink restrictions
Ukrainian defence manufacturer Fire Point says its weapons systems can now complete missions without relying on Starlink connectivity, according to a Reuters report. The claim suggests the company has developed alternative communications that bypass restrictions on the SpaceX satellite network, which has at times limited its service over conflict zones. The development matters for Ukraine's drone and missile operations, which depend heavily on satellite links for guidance and control.
Why now: Fire Point's claim of independence from Starlink has major implications for Ukraine's battlefield communications and for Western reliance on Elon Musk's network
