African Leaders Queue for Putin's Free Ice Cream in Moscow
Original: African Leaders Queue for Free Russian Ice Cream Gifted by Putin During the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow
African leaders lined up to receive free Russian ice cream personally gifted by President Vladimir Putin during the Russia-Africa summit in Moscow. The giveaway has drawn attention online, with commentators both amused by the scene and reading it as a symbol of Russia's efforts to court African nations with soft-power gestures.
Why now: The lighthearted image of heads of state queuing for ice cream contrasts with the summit's serious geopolitics, making it a viral talking point.
