Pentagon faces deadline to shift unspent funds
Original: DOD nears deadline to tap money pots
The Department of Defense is approaching a deadline to draw on unspent accounts before funds expire, Punchbowl News reports. The scramble to 'tap money pots' comes as Congress remains at odds over full-year appropriations, forcing the Pentagon to rely on reprogramming and other budget maneuvers to keep priorities funded.
Why now: A fiscal deadline is looming while Congress has not passed full-year defense funding, forcing the Pentagon into last-minute budget moves.
