'Remigration' scrawled on boarded-up French storefronts
Original: French people are writing what the solution to the looting is on the boards of the boarded up storefronts ahead of today
Ahead of renewed protests in France, shopkeepers have boarded up storefronts, and messages reading "REMIGRATION" have been written on the boards, presenting the far-right immigration policy slogan as the answer to looting. The phrase, long promoted by French and European far-right movements calling for mass deportation of immigrants, is drawing attention as tensions and riots continue in French cities.
Why now: Ongoing protests and looting in France are fuelling debate over far-right slogans like remigration appearing in public spaces.
