X opening tweet links in webviews without taps, users report
Original: Tell HN: X is opening any tweet link in a webview whether you press it or not
A claim circulating on Hacker News says X is opening tweet links in a webview even when the user has not pressed them, raising privacy and data-consumption concerns. Commenters are debating whether this is prefetching or deliberate tracking behaviour, with some calling it intrusive. X has not publicly confirmed or explained the behaviour.
Why now: People are alarmed by the suggestion that X may be automatically loading tweet content without user interaction, touching on privacy and tracking concerns
