Raising wind turbine cut-in speed could save thousands of bats in Australia
Original: # Australia could save thousands of # bats a year with simple tweak to # WindTurbines , study says Raising the wind spee
Researchers in Australia found that raising the wind speed at which turbines start spinning could prevent tens of thousands of bat deaths each year. The study suggests a simple operational tweak to wind farms would significantly reduce wildlife mortality with minimal cost, prompting discussion about balancing renewable energy expansion with protecting bat populations.
Why now: The new study offers a cheap, practical fix to a known problem as wind energy expands and wildlife concerns grow.
