Google's AI satellite sends a haiku from orbit
Original: Google's AI satellite sends a very expensive haiku to Earth
A Google satellite equipped with artificial intelligence has transmitted a haiku back to Earth, a stunt showcasing AI running in orbit. The quirky poem, reportedly generated aboard the satellite itself, is drawing attention as an example of edge computing in space — and, critics note, of costly hardware put to frivolous use.
Why now: The unusual spectacle of an AI-powered satellite composing poetry in orbit is a lighthearted but attention-grabbing demonstration of AI in space.
