A new report says the Trump administration supported roughly half of US coal plants with taxpayer dollars and regulatory rollbacks described as 'free passes to pollute'. The findings, reported by the Guardian, allege federal subsidies and weakened environmental enforcement kept ageing coal-fired power plants operating despite economic and climate concerns.
Why now: A newly published report is drawing attention to the Trump administration's energy policy and its environmental impact.
