Italian Church counters Halloween with Masses and saints' events

Original: messa

The Italian Catholic Church is pushing back against Halloween, organising vigils, Masses and devotional events centred on saints and All Saints' Day across the country. Initiatives reported nationwide frame the celebration as an alternative to the witch-themed feast, with parishes inviting faithful to prayer instead of trick-or-treating, sparking debate over the Church's stance on the popular holiday.

Why now: Halloween is approaching and the Church's counter-initiatives in Italy are drawing attention.
