Iran has designated Britain's intelligence service MI6 as a "hostile group" and declared the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force "terrorist organizations," according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry. Tehran framed the move as retaliation for Britain's actions against the Islamic Republic, further escalating tensions between the two countries.

Why now: Rising Iran-UK tensions amid the broader regional conflict have prompted retaliatory designations by Tehran.
