Environmental Justice Takes Center Stage in Climate Measurement
Original: Measuring the Elements of Climate Change: Environmental Justice
The New York League of Conservation Voters is highlighting environmental justice as a key element in measuring climate change, arguing that climate impacts must be assessed not just through emissions and temperature data but through their unequal effects on vulnerable communities. The framing reflects a broader push in policy circles to put fairness and community burden at the core of climate metrics.
Why now: Environmental justice is an increasingly prominent angle in climate policy discussions, and advocacy groups are actively pushing for it to be included in how climate change is measured.
