China allowed the news to be published, say observers
Original: you think that’s the main story ? the main story is that China allowed this news to be published.
Commentators are arguing that the real significance of a story currently circulating is not its content, but the fact that Chinese authorities permitted it to be published at all. The claim suggests that what Beijing chooses to let appear in domestic media can be more telling than the news itself, a point being debated as people read into the approval as a possible signal about official positioning.
Why now: unclear
