Eric Weinstein questions US hostility to immigration and H-1B visas
Original: Why does the USA hate immigration? Eric Weinstein on H-1B visa & future of Indians in America
Eric Weinstein argued that America's approach to immigration, particularly the H-1B skilled-worker visa programme, is more hostile than its economic needs justify, and discussed what current policy means for Indians living in or moving to the United States. His remarks have drawn wide attention, with many debating whether the US benefits from or resents skilled immigrant labour, and what the future holds for Indian professionals in America.
Why now: Immigration and the H-1B visa programme are under intense public and political scrutiny in the US, and Weinstein's comments on their impact on Indians struck a nerve.
