Oleshky residents cross back into Ukrainian-held territory

Original: Oleshky residents return to Ukraine

Residents of Oleshky, a town in Ukraine's Kherson region that has been under Russian occupation since 2022, have returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory. France 24 reported their arrival, highlighting the continued movement of civilians out of occupied areas on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Many Oleshky residents have faced harsh living conditions under occupation, including flooding after the 2023 Kakhovka dam destruction.

Why now: Civilians escaping Russian-occupied areas of Kherson region remain a focus of international attention as the war continues.
