Markarian's Chain, a striking arc of galaxies within the Virgo Cluster some 50 million light-years from Earth, is being highlighted in science discussions. The chain contains galaxies of varied shapes, including massive ellipticals and spirals, all gravitationally bound together. Astronomy enthusiasts are sharing observations and images of the formation, which is a popular target for amateur telescopes during spring viewing season.

Why now: Amateur astronomers are sharing observations and images of the galaxy chain during prime viewing season.
