The German tech blog Stadtbremerhaven has highlighted Kiosk Satellite, an Android app that converts ordinary tablets into dedicated smart kiosk displays for the open-source home automation platform Home Assistant. The app locks a device into a single-dashboard mode, letting users show wall-mounted control panels for lights, heating and other smart home functions. It is being shared among home automation enthusiasts looking for simple tablet-based control solutions.

Why now: Home Assistant users are interested in cheap ways to build dedicated wall-mounted smart home dashboards from spare tablets.
