Burnham says Britain could rejoin the EU after next election
Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester and a potential Labour leadership contender, says Britain could rejoin the European Union after the next general election. The comments, reported by Bloomberg and other outlets, come amid ongoing debate over Labour's stance on Europe and the long-term consequences of Brexit. Supporters see it as a signal of shifting political mood, while critics warn reopening the question could prove divisive.
Why now: A high-profile Labour figure openly raising EU remembership breaks with the party's cautious Brexit positioning and fuels leadership speculation.
