Haley Stevens endorses Mike Rogers; staff resigns
Original: Haley Stevens endorses Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate and her staff quits
Michigan congresswoman Haley Stevens has endorsed Republican Mike Rogers in the U.S. Senate race, a crossover move that prompted her own staff to quit in protest. The endorsement of a Senate candidate from the opposing party has drawn attention as an unusual break with party lines, and reports that her team walked out over the decision have fueled further discussion.
Why now: A Democratic lawmaker endorsing a Republican Senate candidate and losing her staff over it is a rare, dramatic political rupture.
