Attention is turning to BY Draconis, a triple star system located roughly 54 light-years from Earth in the constellation Draco. The three stars are gravitationally bound, orbiting a shared centre. BY Draconis is also a known variable star, its brightness shifting due to starspots and rotation, making it a familiar reference point for astronomers studying stellar activity.

Why now: Space and astronomy enthusiasts are sharing the striking image of three stars locked in orbit at a relatively nearby distance.
