Japanese announcer Shinichi Hatori was absent from hosting TV Asahi's morning program 'Morning Show'. His substitute, announcer Kusanagi, explained on air that Hatori was taking a 'late summer vacation'. Japanese media, including Sponichi Annex, reported the explanation, and the item circulated on news aggregators.
Why now: Hatori is a well-known face on a top-rated morning show, so any unexplained absence draws attention.
