Switzerland sees marked rises in Covid levels in wastewater

Wastewater surveillance data from Switzerland up to 25 October shows notable increases in Covid prevalence: of ten monitoring sites, eight recorded rising levels, one declining and one stable. In contrast, influenza A has barely increased so far, while influenza B and RSV remain at background levels. The figures suggest a new Covid wave building ahead of the winter respiratory season.

Why now: Fresh surveillance data showing Covid rising in most Swiss wastewater plants points to an approaching autumn wave.
