Humanoid robot directs crowds at major marathon
Original: 5-foot-10 humanoid, IP66-rated robot traffic cop directs crowds at major marathon
A 5-foot-10 humanoid robot, rated IP66 for dust and water resistance, worked as a traffic officer at a major marathon, directing crowds of runners and spectators. The deployment drew attention as a high-profile test of humanoid robots handling public safety and crowd management duties in real outdoor conditions, including potential rain or dust.
Why now: A humanoid robot performing a real traffic-control job at a public sporting event is a striking showcase of robotics moving into practical outdoor work.
