Readers are taking part in a book blogging prompt called Fantasy with Friends, this week asking whether science fiction and fantasy should be grouped as one category. Participants are sharing posts arguing the genres overlap too much in bookstores and marketing, while others defend keeping them separate. The discussion is circulating among book-focused communities online.
Why now: A weekly reading community prompt inviting readers to weigh in on genre categorisation is drawing active responses.
