China Urges Political Solution as Middle East War Spreads

Original: 🟠 UPDATE China Urges Political Solution to Middle East Conflict in Talks with Iran Wang Yi warns that the war has spread

China's top diplomat Wang Yi, in talks with Iranian representatives, called for a political solution to the Middle East conflict, warning that the war has spread beyond the region. Tehran, for its part, vowed there would be no compromise on its sovereignty and national security. The exchange highlights Beijing's push for de-escalation even as Iran signals a firm stance.

Why now: The war's widening scope makes major powers' diplomatic intervention, especially China's, highly newsworthy.
