SUSE to cut one in ten employees citing AI-driven workflow changes
Original: SUSE to cut one in ten employees because of... AI
Open source software company SUSE plans to lay off roughly one in ten employees, with CEO Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen attributing the cuts partly to artificial intelligence. 'Modern tooling is already changing our daily workflows,' he said, suggesting AI tools are reducing the need for certain roles. The decision has drawn attention as another example of tech companies restructuring workforces around AI adoption.
Why now: Tech industry layoffs being openly linked to AI are fueling debate about automation replacing jobs.
