Original: A Virginia church leads Global 6K for Water fundraising
A Virginia church is leading fundraising efforts for World Vision's Global 6K for Water, an event in which participants walk or run six kilometres to raise money for clean-water projects in developing communities. The six-kilometre distance reflects the average walk many people, often women and children, make daily to fetch unsafe drinking water. The church's role in organising the effort highlights how local congregations continue to drive participation in the global campaign.
Why now: The event is currently active, drawing attention to the church's visible leadership in the worldwide fundraising campaign.
