A birdwatcher has captured a clear photograph of a Cetti's Warbler at the WWT London Wetland Centre, in the heart of the city. The species is famous for its loud, distinctive song but is notoriously difficult to see, with birders typically getting only fleeting glimpses in reedbeds. After countless heard-only encounters, the bird briefly perched in the open on a branch, finally allowing the long-awaited photo.

Why now: Cetti's Warblers are a well-known 'heard but rarely seen' species, so a clear photo is a small triumph among birders.

• Finally A Photo Of A Cetti's Warbler I have heard their songs countless times — they're very loud! And seen fleeting glances if then before. But finally one decided to almost pose on this branch in the reeds of the WWT London Wetland Centre, right in the city. # photography #… · derickr@phpc.social · 15
